Seed To Snack

The journey from a tiny seed to the food on our plate is a wonderful lesson in nature, Every seed carries the promise of life, teaching children valuable lessons of patience, care, and gratitude. To help children understand this wonderful journey through joyful, hands-on learning, Class Preparatory celebrated its Major Co-curricular Activity, "Seed to Snack." Dressed in colourful casual attire, the children enthusiastically participated in a day filled with storytelling, role play, games, nature exploration, and creative activities that helped them discover how tiny seeds grow into plants and eventually become the healthy food we eat. The celebration made learning meaningful while nurturing curiosity, teamwork, and a love for nature. The celebration began with a Special Assembly in the Multipurpose Hall. The programme opened with a shlok and a prayer song, creating a calm and positive atmosphere. To introduce the theme, the school gardener interacted with the children and demonstrated how to plant a seed using pots, soil, seeds, and gardening tools.

He explained the importance of watering plants, caring for them, and protecting nature. Adding colour to the celebration, the Nursery students presented a lively dance performance. The Preparatory students then presented a beautiful enactment depicting the journey of a tiny seed growing into a strong tree with the help of air, water, and sunlight. Their performance conveyed the message that every plant needs care and the right environment to flourish. The excitement continued as the teachers presented the action songs "The Farmer Sowed the Seed" and "Ek Chhota Beej," encouraging children to sing, dance, and participate enthusiastically. The assembly concluded with an inspiring address by the respected Headmistress Ma'am, who encouraged children to care for nature, make healthy food choices, and protect the environment through simple everyday actions. The learning continued through a range of engaging indoor and outdoor activities. During "Seed to Snack – Story Time," children listened to an interactive story and enacted the different stages of plant growth. They also enjoyed the Seed Guessing Game, where they explored different seeds by observing their shapes, sizes, and textures. Outdoors, children participated in the "Grow Like a Seed" action game, pretending to grow from tiny seeds into flourishing plants.

A nature walk gave them the opportunity to observe their surroundings, collect  fallen leaves, and create attractive leaf patterns in their art journals, enhancing both creativity and observation skills. As part of the follow-up activities, children will reuse old ice cream sticks to make colourful tree-themed bookmarks for their school almanacs. They will also complete worksheets on seed germination and the process of planting a seed. These concepts will be reinforced through Circle Time discussions, helping children strengthen their understanding of plant growth. The "Seed to Snack" celebration concluded with children sharing their learning and experiences with one another. Through stories, activities, and hands-on exploration, they gained a deeper appreciation of how food reaches our plates and why caring for plants is essential. The celebration was a joyful and enriching experience that fostered curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and environmental awareness, reminding every child that every healthy meal begins with a tiny seed nurtured with love and care.
